In Transit
Corinne Jaber
A new play reading written & performed by Corinne Jaber & directed by Annabel Arden
"Zones of conflict are comforting for people like me
Who carry their inner conflict zone with them
They are recognisable places
Distinct
Archetypal
They create a sense of belonging"
This is a play-in-progress written in London, India and Paris in a state of urgency. To seek an outlet for the mixture of rage, shock and utter incomprehension these past 18 months have reduced me to.
I happened to be in Beirut when the city was attacked by exploding pager devices and suddenly I was in the eye of the storm myself. I had also been without a home for more than 2 years which made me feel very close to all those displaced and on the move belonging neither here nor there.
In Transit marks the steps of my journey, inwardly and outwardly, as I move through my search of words in a world on a roller coaster ride.
This show is a part of the Camden Fringe
ABOUT
Corinne Jaber, actress and writer, and Annabel Arden, director and co-founder of Complicité, first met many years ago when they were both studying with Monika Pagneux and Philip Gaulier from the Jacques Lecoq school in Paris.
Corinne has continued to be part of many international theatre productions as an actress such as Peter Brook’s Mahabharata, Irina Brook’s Beast on the Moon and her collaboration with Amir Nizar Zuabi on Oh my sweet Land. Her first play as a writer Munich Medea: Happy Family was staged in New York last year.
Annabel most recently co-directed with Simon McBurney a production of Michael Kohlhaas for Schaubühne Berlin. She has had a long international career directing Opera. Now she is returning to her theatre roots as both director and performer and is in collaboration with Neil Bartlett and Rosalind Parker exploring Greek Tragedy.
In Transit is a serendipitous reunion.
