There are several artists and companies calling the building their home, expanding upon the venue's legacy of supporting international and community-engaged artists.

Creative Director Kerry Kyriacos Michael MBE says:

"I'm thrilled for all the possibilities this space offers. Its ethos and values are why I am here and I'm looking forward to working with friends and partners to grow the opportunities for this independent theatre space in the heart of London."

Theatro Technis

Theatro Technis is the original arts organisation which inhabited this space. Founded in 1957 by George Eugeniou and a group of actors five decades ago, Theatro Technis first started its work in an old unused warehouse located in the backyard of King's Cross.
Then after many challenges, it finally found its permanent home in an old Church building where it has flourished into a centre of multi-faceted and multi-cultural activities.

It became one of the first venues in the UK dedicated to serving its local, working-class, and immigrant community back in the early '60s.  Since then it has continued to be home to international companies and independent artists.

Gate Theatre

Established in 1979, the Gate Theatre is known for producing trailblazing international theatre. Across its forty-year history, the Gate has completely transformed performance spaces with each production. It has nurtured early work by many major artists including Natalie Abrahami, Carrie Cracknell, Paterson Joseph, Sarah Kane, Lynette Linton, Katie Mitchell, Sophie Okonedo, Indhu Rubasingham, and Erica Whyman.

Formerly situated in Notting Hill, Gate Theatre’s first theatrical endeavour at 26 Crowndale was a revival of its critically acclaimed Dear Elizabeth in the summer of 2021. This was a pivotal step towards it complete rehome to Camden, during an existing search for a more accessible home for existing and potential artists and audiences.

Gate Theatre is delighted to call 26 Crowndale its new home, alongside other brilliant partners of the space.
