This page is divided into two parts: Part A – Terms of Use, which governs your use of our website, and Part B – Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. By using this website you agree to both.

In this document, “we”, “us”, “our” and “Theatro Technis” mean the organisation named above. “You” and “your” mean the person using our website. “Website” means www.theatrotechnis.com and all its pages.

Part A — Terms of Use

1. About us and how to contact us

This website is operated by Theatro Technis, a charitable company limited by guarantee. You can contact us by email at office@theatrotechnis.com or by post at 26 Crowndale Road, Camden, London, NW1 1TT.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using this website, you confirm that you accept these Terms of Use and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use the website. We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted here is the one that applies to your use of the site.

3. Using our website

You may use our website only for lawful purposes. You must not use it in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation, is fraudulent or harmful, or seeks to damage, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the website or any server or system connected to it. We do not guarantee that the website, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted, and we may suspend, withdraw or change all or part of it without notice.

4. Tickets and bookings

Some performances are booked directly through our website and some are booked through third-party platforms (for example, Camden Fringe at camdenfringe.com or other ticketing providers). Where booking takes place on a third-party platform, that provider’s own terms and privacy policy apply to your transaction in addition to ours.

When you book a ticket, a binding contract is formed once we (or the relevant ticketing provider) confirm your booking. Prices are shown at the point of booking and include VAT where applicable. Please check the date, time, performance and price before completing your purchase.

5. Refunds, exchanges and cancellations

Tickets are generally non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise at the time of booking. If we cancel or significantly reschedule a performance, we will let you know and offer a refund or exchange in line with our then-current refund policy. Latecomers may be admitted only at a suitable break in the performance, or not at all, at the discretion of the production. [Confirm and adjust this clause to match your actual refund practice.]

6. Donations

Donations made through our website support our charitable work and the running of our venue. Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, or you are exercising a statutory cancellation right, donations are non-refundable. If you have told us you are a UK taxpayer and have made a valid Gift Aid declaration, we may reclaim Gift Aid on eligible donations.

7. Venue, studio and office hire

Enquiries about hiring our theatre, rehearsal rooms or office space are handled separately by email and are subject to a distinct hire agreement. Information on this website about our spaces is provided for general guidance only and does not form part of any hire contract.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, photographs, the poster and photo archives, video and the Theatro Technis name and branding — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not otherwise copy, reproduce, distribute or exploit any content without our prior written permission. Some images and recordings featured on the site relate to particular productions or contributors and may be subject to additional rights.

9. Links to other websites

Our website contains links to third-party websites (for example, ticketing platforms, partner organisations and our social media channels). These links are provided for your convenience. We have no control over the content of those sites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss arising from your use of them.

10. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we provide this website on an “as is” basis and, to the extent permitted by law, exclude all implied warranties. We are not liable for any loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for any business losses, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the website. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Part B — Privacy Policy

Theatro Technis is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are (the “data controller”)

Theatro Technis, 26 Crowndale Road, Camden, London, NW1 1TT, is the controller responsible for your personal data. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number Registration reference: ZB127562. For any privacy questions, contact us at office@theatrotechnis.com.

2. The personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact and identity details — your name, email address, postal address and phone number, for example when you contact us, hire a space, make a donation or sign up to our mailing list.

  • Booking information — details of the tickets and events you book. Where booking happens through a third-party ticketing provider, that provider collects this data and shares relevant information with us.

  • Payment information — payments for tickets and donations are handled by our third-party payment providers. We do not store your full card details on our systems.

  • Gift Aid information — if you make a Gift Aid declaration, we record that you are a UK taxpayer so we can claim Gift Aid.

  • Mailing list preferences — your email address and the fact that you have consented to receive our newsletters and updates.

  • Technical and usage data — information collected automatically when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and how you use the site, mainly through cookies (see section 8).

3. How we use your data and our legal basis

We use your personal data only where the law allows. Our legal bases are:

  • To perform a contract with you — processing ticket bookings, donations and space-hire arrangements, and providing the services you have requested.

  • Your consent — sending you marketing emails and newsletters (you can withdraw consent at any time), and setting non-essential cookies.

  • Our legitimate interests — running and promoting the charity, responding to enquiries, keeping basic records, and protecting the security of our website and visitors, in a way that does not override your rights.

  • Legal obligation — meeting our accounting, tax, Gift Aid, charity-regulation and other legal duties.

4. Marketing

If you have signed up to our mailing list, we will send you news about our shows, events and work. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or emailing office@theatrotechnis.com. We will not pass your details to other organisations for their own marketing.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf (processors) — including our website platform (Wix), our email/mailing-list provider, our ticketing provider(s) and our payment provider(s): Ticket Taylor, email and payment providers including Wix, Stripe, PayPal.  These providers process data under our instructions and are bound by their own data protection obligations.

  • HMRC — where we claim Gift Aid on your eligible donations.

  • Professional advisers and regulators — such as our accountants, auditors or regulators, where required.

  • Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information.

Some providers (for example, payment or analytics services) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we take steps to ensure your data is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. In general: financial and donation records (including Gift Aid) are kept for at least six years to meet tax and accounting requirements; mailing-list data is kept until you unsubscribe; and enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and a reasonable period afterwards. We then securely delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;

  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;

  • ask us to delete your data (“right to erasure”) in certain circumstances;

  • restrict or object to our processing in certain circumstances;

  • request that we transfer your data to another organisation (“data portability”); and

  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email office@theatrotechnis.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to: Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to make the site work, to remember your preferences and to understand how the site is used. Some cookies are essential for the site to function; others (such as analytics or marketing cookies) are optional and set only with your consent. Our website is built on Wix, which uses cookies to operate the site and its features. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings or through any cookie banner shown on the site, although turning off essential cookies may affect how the site works.

9. Keeping your data secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. While no online service can be completely secure, we work with reputable providers and limit access to your data to those who need it.

10. Children

Our website and services are aimed at a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its “last updated” date, will always be available on this page. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.

12. Contact

For any questions about this Terms of Use & Privacy Policy, or about how we handle your data, contact us at office@theatrotechnis.com or write to Theatro Technis, 26 Crowndale Road, Camden, London
