“First one to reach home wins?”

London, 1974. Pedro, a young Portuguese immigrant crosses paths with Maria, a young woman from Cyprus, as her homeland faces the turmoil of invasion. Together, they confront personal choices during the profound changes sweeping their respective countries.

‘74 captures a pivotal moment in history, exploring the intersection of two lives against a backdrop of political upheaval and transformation. Marking the 52nd anniversary of the Turkish occupation of Cyprus and the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, the play reflects on events that forever changed the histories of these two countries.

Cast and Creative Team

Chrisanthi Livadiotis

Chrisanthi Livadiotis is a Cypriot born actor and theatre maker based in London. She trained at Queen Mary University of London and Columbia University in New York. During her studies, she co-founded Stage 3, an award-winning participatory theatre experience in collaboration with People’s Palace Projects that generates discussion about migration, discrimination, and belonging. She has performed in productions across Europe, New York, and the UK and showcased her work at venues including Theatre Deli, Camden People’s Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre, and the Gate Theatre. Her debut play, ’74, supported by the Cyprus High Commission, was staged at the Barons Court Theatre as part of the Voila! Theatre Festival 2024, where it was nominated for an OffFest Award. The Kitchen Table, her one-act play, was selected for Reboot Festival 5 and staged at the Arches Lane Theatre. Most recently, she became a member of E-Co, the core touring company of THE HERDS, opening the Venice Dance Biennale 2025, Olavsfest, and the Manchester International Festival.

Panos Savvides

Panos Savvides is a professional actor. He studied at the International School of Acting and co-founded Woodlands Theatre Company. He produced “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, “Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay”. Panos is very closely associated with Mr George Evgeniou at Theatro Technis where they co-produced “The Inheritors”. Panos played the Wise Man in “Wealth” at Dugdale Centre (Dir. Manos Tsotras). Other stage productions include, “The Immigrants” at the Electra Theatre (Dir. Roberta Fox) and the “Phoenician Women” at the Theatro Technis where he played Oedipus (Dir. George Evgeniou). At The Cyprus Community Centre he played the Dedective in “Fonazi o Kleftis” Panos co-produced and starred in a short film “Sea Urchins” (Co-Producer/Dir. Lou Panteli). Panos, also co-starred in “Panos and Cascadia” (Dir. Rob Jelly). He has worked on many plays with Vasili Panayi. TV credits include The Bill, London’s Burning, Queen of the East starring Jennifer Saunders (BBC TV Dir. Robert Chapman). He also played Captain Stephanos in “Sea of Fire” (BBC TV, Dir. Robert Del Maestro) and featured in “Undercover Customs” (Dir. Robert Khodadad). Feature films include “The Phantom Warrior", “Hitmen" and “The Bezonians". Commercials include British Telecom, MTV promo, Duyvis Pastrelli-Amsterdam and a main feature for Vodafone amongst many others. Film credits include "A Kind of Hush"(Dir. Brian Stern), "Arabs in London" (Dir. Anwar Kawadri), "Troy"(Dir. Woflgang Peterson) and "Alexander" (Dir. Oliver Stone). He has appeared in the series "Petrino Potami" on PIK1 TV for Cyprus. More recently Panos performed his one man show “The Interpretation” as part of The Camden Fringe Festival and “Cypria"by Elena Pavli and he played Agamemnon for Hecuba at Theatro Technis. Panos will be doing his one man show in October.
