Martha D Lewis

An established music maker, singer, composer working in all genres including Jazz and rebetiko; and one half of the creative duo Donna & Kebab.

Since the start of her career in late 1980’s, Martha D Lewis has appeared on over 15 live television performances with over 100 national and international radio interviews. Trailblazing music – comedy beginnings as one half of the creative duo Donna & Kebab (with Eve Polycarpou) saw Inter/National live performances at the Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury Festival. From mid-1990s, Martha solo project of contemporary jazz world music was featured in numerous festivals including many appearances at the EFG London Jazz festival. An established music maker whose credits include composing for film TV theatre and Arts Council commissions, Martha is a member of the Jazz Council at the Ivors Academy where she is also a music career mentor. Since 1996 Martha has directed the Independent record label BUDD.


Martha’s music genre is multi-dimensional also taking in blues, world and art – pop.


Following Martha’s role presenting and singing in the globally screened feature film documentary My Sweet Canary , Martha released the album ‘Homage To Roza’ to much critical acclaim . “Emotive interpretations of 1920s Greek blues (Rembetika) providing a new contribution to the borders of world and contemporary jazz music”. In 2022, Martha founded and is director of UK Jazz Plus sessions which spotlights new storytelling in jazz and have been presented in London’s acclaimed venues including Royal Festival Hall, Rich Mix and Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho. Now programming for Ronnie Scotts 2026 season, Martha is very proud and grateful that UKJP began its journey in Theatro Technis.
