Lear

Jester Collective

In this re-imagined version of King Lear, Lear is the story of an aging queen who destroys her family leaving her kingdom in ruins.

In this re-imagined version of King Lear, perhaps Shakespeare's greatest tragedy, Lear is the story of an aging queen, who, after failing to get the show of devotion she expects from her three daughters, divides her kingdom, destroys her family, and banishes those closest to her leaving her kingdom in ruins.

Director's Notes:

Jester Collective is delighted to present this intimate and intense tale of Lear, a re-imagined version of The Tragedy of King Lear by William Shakespeare.

This inspiring ensemble of actors has come together to tell a story that captures humanity’s indulgence in self-destruction.  The Jester Collective strives to support actors in honing their craft as aspiring talent or as veterans returning to the industry in order to gain valuable experience and insights into the world of acting. Together, we aim to elevate skills to an exceptional standard.

We hope you enjoy our production of Lear presented by Jester Collective.

Sincerely, Mark Prince, Director

Conrad O'Callaghan

Edmund

Conrad O'Callaghan's goal in life is to become a professional actor. To that end, his acting journey has set him on multiple and varied paths, affording him many invaluable experiences. He trained on a foundation course in acting at Mountview, which was a transformative and exciting adventure. This has led to him performing at several venues across London, including Questors Theatre, Tower Theatre, Putney Arts Theatre, Guildhall Yard, Camden Fringe, and Rebound Productions' Emerging Arts Festival. Additionally, he has appeared in short films by several different film schools, including SAE Institute, London Film School, University of Westminster, and, most recently, Met Film School. Conrad is delighted to be appearing in the inaugural production of Jester Acting Company, particularly as a Shakespearean villain hellbent on causing trouble!

Erin Costello

Lear

Erin graduated with a degree in drama in 1986 and then proceeded to have a great career in education. She retired 4 years ago and has spent the last 2 as a professional actor focussing mostly on tv and film. This is Erin’s second Shakespeare role being expertly directed and supported by Mark Prince and she is excited to be part of this wonderful ensemble cast and a new adaptation of King Lear.

Leonardo Cavaletti

Earl of Kent

Leonardo began his acting journey with Sicilian folklore theatre. Having since explored acting, dancing, and improv, he is eager to find new places and talented people to laugh with, cry with, and everything in between. "Lear" is his third production working with Mark Prince.

Adam Davies-Knight

Edgar

Adam is an emerging actor, having appeared in previous Shakespeare roles. Although his dream role is to play the Doctor in Doctor Who. When he’s not acting, his other passion is travel. His most recent trip was six month’s trekking around Japan and China, but he always returns in between trips for the chance to be in Mark Prince productions.

Amelia Rawlinson

Cordelia and Fool

As Lear is my first serious foray into acting, I hope this will provide a strong foundation for me in pursuing acting professionally. I aim to develop my confidence in using the Stanislavskian technique in immersing myself naturally within the characters of Cordelia and the Fool. Additionally, I am excited at being a part of an ensemble cast and cooperating as a team to make this production come to life. In my own time when I write scripts, it is often solitary and lacking in external input. I hope that participating and engaging with a cast and working with a director in performing Lear will help influence myself as a writer in understanding the practicality of devising and physicalizing a play from a script.

David Nicol

Duke of Albany and Assistant Director

David Nicol plays the Duke of Albany and is assistant director for Lear. He has been acting for two years, with recent stage credits including Father of the Bride in Blood Wedding and roles in Much Ado About Nothing, where he also served as assistant director. David is particularly interested in character driven performance and psychologically grounded storytelling. He is delighted to be part of this reimagining of King Lear.

Judit Denes

Regan

Judit has a passion for classic theatre and particularly the works of Shakespeare. Her recent roles include Hero in Much Ado About Nothing and Helena Andreevna in the Chekhov classic Uncle Vanya. She is excited to take on the role of Regan and unleash her inner antagonist in this performance of Lear.

Maxime Lopes

Duke of Cornwall and Oswald

Maxime is coming back to the stage after a very short stint 20 years ago, as a member of his high school theatre company. A business consultant in the professional life, he is excited to bring his love of cinema and theatre as an actor on stage. A regular visitor of Park Theatre, Maxime has taken several courses in improvisation and stage acting, including with Mark Prince, before auditioning for Lear. He feels incredibly proud and excited to contribute to Mark’s adaptation of King Lear.
