A Greek Cypriot woman revisits her childhood home, now inhabited by a Turkish Cypriot family, sparking a poignant encounter.

Pandora's Box, a new play by Léon Yianni, is based on real events that delves into the 50-year division of Cyprus. It follows a Greek Cypriot woman who crosses the border to revisit her childhood home and meets Leyla, a young Turkish Cypriot woman who now lives there, leading to an emotional encounter.

About
Léon Yianni- writer & director
Léon began his career as an actor. His work includes; Spring Awakening, Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Women Beware Women, Tis Pity She’s A Whore, The Rivals, Tutenkhamun, Sun Burn, The Bill, Oktober, Paradise Lost, Going To Pot, The Beaux Strategem, The Possessed and the York Passion Plays.
He worked with many great directors, including Giles Havergal, Robert David Mac Donald and Philip Prowse at the Citizens Theatre Glasgow, on Dorian Grey, Don Carlos and Song at Twilight. And was in Stephen Daldry’s production of The Kitchen at the Royal Court.
Since 2000 he has been coaching actors; working on hundreds of amazing projects for TV, film and theatre; Dr Who, East Enders, Casualty, Howard’s End, Vikings, A Nasty Story, The Last Supper, Orpheus Descending, Miss Julie, Thirst, The Revlon Girl, Downton Abbey, The English Game, Ditched, Wolfblood, The Visit, Smyrna, Coliseum, 42 nd Street, All My Sons, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Sweet Bird Of Youth, Hello And Goodbye, The L-Shaped Room, The Care Taker, A Night Out, A Dolls House, David Copperfield and A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder.
He devised Acheron’s Dream with Matthew Hart for the Royal Opera House. Directed Ashes, The Maid (winner of the Alfred Fagon award at the Royal Court) and The Flea.
Recent projects include Arthur’s Whisky (for which Lulu won Best Supporting Actress at the National Film Awards 2024), Bob Servant (BBC Radio), The Winslow Boy and The Marilyn Conspiracy.
