A new theatrical experience for the summer, Veni Vidi Theatre Company by arrangement of Josef Weinberger proudly presents Sherlock Holmes' greatest mystery THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES in a new ‘Radio Theatre’ show format. Adapted for stage by Simon Williams and Directed by Natalie-Anne Downs.
Inspired by the infamous live radio broadcasts of Orson Welles’s Mercury Theatre Company in the late 1930’s, this new show will see a small company of actors playing a multitude of characters whilst using sound foley props to hand produce every detailed sound effect…live! This new Radio Theatre experience will surely bring this popular classic to new heights, where an audience is invited to use their ears not their eyes. This new re-imaging by Natalie-Anne Downs will be a re-enactment of what live radio broadcasts may have been like if you’d been in the room at the time. The company will bring to life a band of actors from England in the 1930’s who’ve been brought in to a recording studio to give it’s listeners a thrilling version Hound of the Baskervilles. This story is the third of four crime novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. Originally serialised in the Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England’s West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder helped along by the legend of a fearsome diabolical hound. Despite its chilling and thrilling outline expect some laughs from Simon William’s adaptation of it.
